International interaction on education and research

Linköping University's internationalisation strategy is based on the vision of being "a driving force in a cosmopolitan region of knowledge".

Establishing further contacts with strong international universities will strengthen the university’s education and research. By offering internationally competitive education based on strong research and high quality education, LiU will attract Swedish and foreign students, even in competition with the most attractive universities, both nationally and internationally. The University will also be an attractive workplace for foreign researchers.

The strategy for internationalisation supports the vision of a university with international eminence. Activities that enable networking with strategically selected universities in order to build long-term and multi-dimensional partnerships are a priority. These networks form the basis for collaboration, in terms of both education and research. The collaboration will consist of student, teacher and staff mobility and even joint research projects. The networks should allow for different parts of LiU to jointly cooperate with foreign universities.

Student and teacher mobility

In addition to the international contacts that our scientists garner, Linköping University has, for more than thirty years, worked to provide education of an international character.

This applies to both the development of the education’s content and to provide our students with the opportunity to pursue part of their studies abroad. It is also relevant to attracting foreign students to our shores.

Several international courses are available and more and more programmes and courses are taught in English. The university has established agreements for student and teacher exchanges with over 500 universities worldwide.

LiU participates in a number of international networks in higher education.
