The doctoral programmes are the highest level of studies offered at the country's universities and as a doctoral student you are an important part of the research at Linköping University and the Department of Social and Welfare Studies.
The programme consists of four years of full-time studies and comprises a number of courses and one thesis project. As a doctoral student you always have a principal supervisor and at least one assistant supervisor who will guide you through your studies. Obtaining a doctoral degree means completing third-cycle studies where you learn planning, critical thinking, scientific writing and taking responsibility in order to become an independent researcher.
