Increased fatigue strength of cast iron components through optimization of residual stresses.
This project investigates the effect of surface mechanical treatments on fatigue behavior of cast irons for applications in heavy duty truck engines. The aim is to increase fatigue life of the cast irons through optimisation of residual stresses. The results may lead to weight reduction of engine components.
