What are the entry requirements?
To meet the general entry requirements, students must have completed one year of full-time studies (passed 60 ECTS credits or equivalent) and be nominated by one of LiU's partner universities. In order for the student’s application to be processed, all required documents must be submitted. The application has to be started before 25 March 2023 and the entry requirements must be fulfilled at the latest by 29 March 202, after which no uploaded supporting documents are accepted.
Do I need to submit proof of English level?
No, you do not have to submit proof of your English level. However, nominated students should have a good command of English in listening, speaking, reading and writing in order to be able to successfully participate in the courses. We expect the students to have at least English level B2.
Can students participate if they do not need the credits?
We expect all participating students to finish their LiU Summer Academy courses and take their exams.
Do you have more information about the contact hours?
More information can be found here in spring 2023. Please note all courses are full-time, and students are expected to put in 40 hours of study work per week, regardless of the number of hours in the classroom, laboratories or excursions.
Is the student accommodation available before 30 June (12:00) or after 29 July (12:00) 2023?
It is important to note that your LiU accommodation is only available between 30 June (from 12:00) and 29 July (until 12:00) 2023. If you intend to spend time in Sweden before or after these dates you need to arrange accommodation on your own during that period.
What time is the LiU Summer Academy office open on arrival day?
The office will be open additional hours on 30 June 2023, from 12:00 until 20:00.
What if I cannot arrive on arrival day?
Students who arrive outside of the official office hours must inform LiU via email of their arrival date and time and LiU will let them know how we can assist. Students arriving earlier than 30 June need to arrange for accommodation on their own for those days. Students arriving after office hours on 30 June need to arrange accommodation for the first night. The LiU Summer Academy hosts will be able to help you with the keys on 1-2 July between 08:00 - 20:00. It is not possible to hand out keys before or after that time.
What if I need to check out of my room earlier than the official departure day?
Please inform LiU and your teachers if you intend to check out before the official day of departure (Saturday 29 July 2023) so we can arrange for your check-out. Please note, there is no drop-off service provided by LiU on the departure day. Check-out is between 08:00-12:00 on 29 July 2023.
Do I need to bring my own computer?
We expect the students to bring their own computer. There will however be some computers available in the computer lab during day time.
I have a disability; what assistance can I receive?
Students with disabilities are advised to contact the LiU Summer Academy office and read the information on the LiU study assistance website. Make contact as early as possible if you will be needing any educational support.
I have made my payment, will I receive a confirmation?
LiU will check all the incoming payments in May 2023 and send a confirmation to the LiU Summer Academy students.
When will I receive more information about my accommodation?
More information about the type of accommodation will be presented when you arrive. Should you need to know before your arrival you are welcome to contact LiU Summer Academy.
Where do I find the student host office?
The address of the student host office is Studenthuset, Campus Valla. It is on the ground level on the right-hand side of the entrance.
The office is open weekdays from 11:45 - to 13:15 (in July).
Do I need to bring a towel, bed sheet, bed linen, and a pillow?
If you have booked and paid for the accommodation package, bed linen, sheets, a pillow, and a towel will be provided for you.
What is included in the free SIM card?
The SIM card for your mobile phone needs to be topped up with funds. You can select from several plans and choose one that suits you the best.
