Biomedical Imaging and Spectroscopy for Quantitative Assessment of Tissue Structural Properties
Spatial Frequency Domain Imaging/spectroscopy (SFDI/S) is a relatively new optical technique that has several advantages like low cost, quantitative, easy to deploy in clinics.
This technique measures the differentiated response of remitted light from tissue when sinusoidal intensity of varying spatial frequency is projected on to it. This approach quantifies the effective Modulation Transfer Function (MTF) of a diffuse optical system (in this case: biological tissue) and encodes absorption and scattering properties crucial for disease diagnosis.
