The Christmas spirit in 16 versions

Someone must take on the job of creating Christmas spirit in song, and LiU’s musical ensembles are happy to oblige. They are offering the Christmas spirit on no less than 16 occasions. They start with choral favourites in Norrköping.

Snowing in winter forest Photo credit EerikThe student choir in Norrköping, Skön, is happy to invite all to their two Christmas concerts in Centrumkyrkan on 30 November and 1 December, at 3.00 pm on both days.

On 1 December the Linköping University Symphony Orchestra, which is celebrating its 25th jubilee this year, is host to a jubilee concert in Missionskyrkan at 4.00 pm. The programme offers classical gems with a splash of advent.

After this, we are really spoilt for choice.
On 5 December, Chorus Lin will be singing in Törnevalla Church in Linghem at 7.00 pm, while on the same date and at the same time the Linköping University Male Voice Choir will hold the first of four Christmas concerts in St. Larskyrkan in Linköping.

Anyone who wants to hear the choir give this concert again can do so on the day after, 6 December. Same time and place. The Östgöta Brasskvintett will participate in all of the concerts in St. Larskyrkan, and the choir promises Christmas music, light-hearted fun and some old favourites.

On Saturday 8 December at 6.00 pm, Chorus Lin will give the second of its four traditional advent concerts, this time in Heda Church in Ödeshög.
On the same day, the Linköping University Male Voice Choir is giving two Christmas concerts in St. Larskyrkan, the first at 3.00 pm and the second at 5.30 pm.

On Sunday 9 December, Chorus Lin will take over at St. Larskyrkan in Linköping, with concerts at 3.00 pm and 6.00 pm
On the same day, LiHtösen with be chiming in with Christmas harmony and folk music in Baptistkyrkan in Linköping, 5.00 pm.

And then the Lucia celebrations start (13 December). The first event is, as always, Röda Arméns Gosskör bringing light to Campus Valla around lunch. At around 12.15 they gather on Kårallen above Baljan and then walk in procession along Corson to the Key Building.

In the evening, 7.30 pm, the Linköping University Women’s Choir – Linnea, will present its traditional Lucia procession at Ryttargårdskyrkan in Linköping.

Illustration Dicken julsagaAs Christmas comes ever closer and is almost upon us, the Linköping University Chamber Choir and will be putting on a condensed version of the Dickens classic, A Christmas Carol.
The performances are on 19 December at 6.00 pm in Konsert & Kongress in Linköping, and 20 December at 7.00 pm in Louis De Geer in Norrköping.
