The British QS World University Rankings is considered to be one of the three largest and most significant global rankings for higher education institutions. Competition gets stiffer every year as new high-quality universities are added. If the number of ranked institutions is considered, LiU’s position in this ranking is the best ever. In the last QS ranking for 2022 LiU was at place 329 and the year before that at place 362.
The ranking procedure looks at both research and education. Linköping University remains strong when it comes to the number of citations received, which measures the extent to which research at LiU is interesting for researchers all over the world. Another strength of LiU is the new indicator International Research Network. The greatest improvement is seen with respect to the number of international students
The QS list is topped by Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), University of Oxford and Stanford University. There are approximately 20,000 institutions of higher education around the world, which means that LiU is in the top two percent. The QS ranking considers only leading universities.
