Many people are, for various reasons, unable to attend the working life, social occasions or leisure activities. At the Disability Research Division we conduct research on various disabilities, where we measure and compare the impact and degree of disability. The focus is on cognition and communication, the processes occurring in the brain when we receive, process and convey information.
A large part of our research is about hearing and deafness, but also about the cognitive conditions for communication with other groups, such as people with developmental disabilities and autism. The aim of our research is to increase knowledge about disability in society and thus contribute to improving the situation of persons with disabilities.
