Knowledge of languages is important for the individual as a member of society, for communication and as a tool in many different professional areas. Knowledge in and about literature is important for the individual as a person, as well as for culture and education.
We educate linguists and comparative literature scholars via our single-subject courses, and we educate teachers for different levels in the education system. We are also responsible for Swedish as a Second Language and for Swedish for Foreign Students and Employees.
Our research environments, the Graduate School Language and Culture in Europe and the Graduate school in Pedagogic Practices: Subject-based Teaching and Learning in L1- and L2-education, carry out research in linguistic forms of expression, media, literature and in the field of Pedagogic Practices.
