Nordic Workshop on Systems and Network Optimization for Wireless communication (SNOW 2020)

Copperhill Mountain Lodge in Åre, Sweden

SNOW2020 cancelled due to COVID-19 threat

Dear SNOW participant,

As you know, COVID-19 situation is getting increasingly threatening and chances are to further deteriorate in the near future. As organizers of the SNOW2020, we take participants’ health and well-being seriously and become seriously concerned about the risks posed by traveling and attending meetings. Furthermore, some participants informed us that their organizations already imposed travel restrictions which forbids them to attend this year SNOW. Therefore, given the circumstances, we consider that the right precaution measure is to cancel this year SNOW.

When planning the conference we used a general agreement our university has with selected conference hotels around Sweden and we made a nice deal with Copperhill Mountain Lodge in Åre. However, for this deal to work our division had to guarantee the full cancellation fee in case something unpredictable should happen. Therefore, when we now are forced to cancel the conference the approximate cost of 140 000 SEK will be paid by the Communications and Transport Systems (KTS) division of Linköping University.

We regret this unavoidable development, appreciate your understanding and wish you well.

We have the pleasure to announce the SNOW 2020 workshop, organized and hosted by Linköping University and held in Åre, Sweden during March 30th – April 2nd, 2020

The 11th Nordic Workshop on Systems and Network Optimization for Wireless Communication (SNOW) aims at bringing together researchers and students from academia and industry working in the vibrant field of wireless communication and networking. Its scope is broad and intended to accommodate a wide variety of backgrounds, attitudes and ideas. The workshop therefore covers a range of topics within wireless networking from fundamental information theoretic results to multimedia quality-of-service, from physical layer to application layer, and from fundamental to application-oriented research. We are confident the workshop’s contributions will help to bridge gaps between networking, signal processing, and information theory communities.

Following the tradition, SNOW 2020 will feature a single-track schedule and an interesting informal program. The program will be organized to promote networking activities between the participants including daily social outdoors activities, primarily skiing.

Note: Due to the limited number of rooms available at the conference hotel it is recommended to book your accommodation ASAP, even before the abstract submission deadline.

Call for abstracts

We invite submissions of extended abstracts (2 pages maximum, double column, IEEE style) for technical presentations or posters, targeting, but not limited to the following topics:

  • Ad hoc, mesh and sensor networks
  • Age of Information (AoI) and related information freshness metrics
  • Asymptotic system properties (capacity, connectivity, coverage, delay)
  • Cognitive radios and cooperative/opportunistic communications
  • Compressed sensing and sparsity-based techniques in wireless networks
  • Energy efficiency and green communications
  • Fog networks
  • Game theoretic models, pricing and incentives
  • Interference management and wireless network densification
  • Internet of Things (IoT)
  • Location and tracking
  • Machine learning in wireless systems
  • Massive machine-type communications
  • Massive MIMO communications
  • Millimeter-waves communications
  • Mobile edge computing and caching
  • Resource and mobility management, and admission control
  • Scalability and manageability of network architectures
  • System design for 5G wireless systems and beyond
  • Traffic modelling and analysis
  • Ultra-Reliable Low Latency Communications (URLLC)
  • Wireless network planning, capacity analysis, and topology control

Please submit your Abstract by 31 January 2020 via email to SNOW2020@itn.liu.se. Please indicate your favored form of presentation: oral or poster.

Contributors whose work falls well within the above scope will be offered a slot for sharing their research in the workshop – either as an oral presentation or by means of a poster.  Notification of the particular form of acceptance (oral or poster) will be given by 7 February 2020.

No proceedings will be published. The abstracts are solely needed to assess the content of the presentations, and to organize the program.

SNOW 2020 is a prime opportunity to market your most exciting recent results to your Nordic colleagues!
