For admission to the course, the specific entry requirements that apply for admission to the master's education in Cognitive Science must be satisfied.

Intended learning outcomes

On completion of the course, the student should be able to
- apply task analysis, ethnographic analysis and risk analysis methods
- identify, choose, delimit and analyse a human-computer system
- apply one or a few relevant methods in a field or simulation study.

Course content

The course comprises two parts; theory and project work.

Theory: in the course, fundamental concepts in different subject areas are presented and different methods and technologies to translate theory into practice are covered. Practical exercises are carried out, and results and experiences from these are discussed. Primarily, the following subjects are covered: task analysis, accident analysis, risk analysis, ethnographic methods in complex environments

Project: theoretical knowledge is practised in a real environment under supervision.

Teaching and working methods

Lectures and project work in groups. The student is expected to study independently, individually or in groups.

Examination

The course is examined through a project report, compulsory participation in a final review and a critical review. Detailed information can be found in the study guide.

Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course twice are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination.

Students who have passed an examination may not retake it in order to improve their grades.
