Entry requirements

Admission to the course requires, apart from a Bachelor's degree in relevant subject, at least 30 HE credits in Design for second-cycle studies, and a broadening course in design comprising at least 6 HE credits.

Intended learning outcomes

On completion of the course, the student should be able to;
- independently work with and carry out a design project
- independently base the designing in relevant design research and reflect on the project, both its method and its results
- carry out a design research work
- evaluate the possibilities for and carry out a presentation of a research study and project in written, oral and presentation form

Course content

The student chooses a research assignment in consultation with the examiner. In the course, the student plans, carries out and reports the assignment with a scientific approach. The work is carried out independently by the student and through supervision.

Teaching and working methods

Independent work with teacher supervision. Group seminars.

Examination

The course is examined in writing, in the form of a master's thesis and oral presentation in the form of a presentation of the project. The student should also carry out a critical review of another design master's thesis. In the cases then it is applicable participate the student in an exhibition.

Three-grade scale, U, G, VG

Other information

Planning and implementation of a course must take its starting point in the wording of the syllabus. The course evaluation included in each course must therefore take up the question how well the course agrees with the syllabus. The course is carried out in such a way that both men´s and women´s experience and knowledge is made visible and developed.
