The position

We are looking for a research engineer. You work as a lab manager and are familiar with basic infection biology. Together with the group leader, you can maintain the group's lab protocol, manage reagent orders, introduce and instruct new students and postdocs in the lab.

The person we are looking for must, with guidance, be able to carry out experiments independently and also be able to collaborate with other lab members on larger lab projects, as well as international projects where cooperation and an outgoing personality with good english are desirable.

The person we need

We are looking for you who have an academic degree with a master's in medical biology/infection biology as a major.

The following experience is required:

  • Handling of virulent Mycobacteria, infection trials, at BSL-3 lab
  • Isolation and differentiation of monocyte-derived human macrophages

It is advantageous if you have experience in:

  • Flow cytometry
  • Western blotting
  • Isolation of extracellular vesicles and miRNA/RNA
  • Statistics and experience in bioinformatic analyzes of miRNA targets and signaling pathways

As a person, you are self-motivated and flexible. You have good cooperation skills and are service-oriented. In your work, you are structured and quality conscious.

The workplace

The division of Inflammation and Infection (II) conducts teaching and research in a number of clinical subject areas such as immunology, allergology, rheumatology and microbiology.

The research group that you will be part of conducts immunological research in the field of tuberculosis and focuses on how co-infections, such as helminths, affect the immune response and inflammation regulation in tuberculosis. The research group also conducts in vitro experiments on macrophages and other immune cells, such as dendritic cells, T cells and B cells and translational research, parts of the work involve studies in Ethiopia where helminth infection and helminth/tuberculosis co-infection is common.

The employment

Temporary employment of one year, full-time.
