You will work on research aimed at understanding how mechanical forces in the tumour microenvironment influences cancer progression, with a particular focus on skeletal cancer that frequently metastasize to the lung and liver. The work includes handling and analysing patient samples as well as conducting experimental studies on cells and using a zebrafish model to identify factors that promote metastasis. You will contribute to research that also encompasses other tumor types and their metastasis patterns, with the goal of developing new insights that can improve clinical practice and enable innovative treatment options for patients with metastatic cancer.
The person we need
We are looking for someone who is confident, stable, and has high integrity. You should have strong collaboration skills, be service-oriented, and structured.
We require you to have an academic degree (3–6 years), preferably in medicine. Proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written, as well as excellent English skills, is essential.
You should have at least one year of laboratory experience. Additionally, experience with the following methods/techniques is required:
- Experience of using the zebrafish tumour model
- Handling patient samples: tumour tissues and blood
- Cell culture maintenance
- Experience of experimental design, validation and interpretation of biological result.
It is advantageous if you have prior experience with patient interaction and knowledge of clinical study design. Further education in research, statistics, and international experience in medical institutions are considered significant advantages.
Experience with the following methods/techniques is also considered valuable:
- Isolation of immune cells from tissues and blood
- Tissue staining and imaging using confocal microscopy and image analysis
- Molecular analytical methods such as qPCR

The workplace
You will work at the Department of Neuro- and Cell Biology.
Our research focuses on understanding the impact of mechanical forces in the tumour micro-environment and how this influences cancer progression. Our primary focus is on skeletal tumor types that predominantly metastasize to the lung and liver. Additionally, we study other cancer types and their metastasis patterns to gain further understanding that can improve clinical practice and lead to new treatment opportunities for metastatic cancer.
The employment
Fixed-term employment 6 months. Full time.
