Entry requirements

For admission to the course, the student is required to have completed the first three years of study at the programme in Commercial and Business Law/Commercial and Business Law with Focus on Europe and completed the bachelor's thesis.

Intended learning outcomes

On completion of the course, the student should be able to
- utilise the knowledge in the areas that the project work intends,
- search for and process legal information,
- problematise and analyse from perspectives that are relevant to the task,
- independently carry out a project, which requires independent assessments and decisions
- show skills in communication, a critical approach and an ability to observe different relevant perspectives.

Course content

The student should develop the ability to apply knowledge of the theories of the subject and method knowledge essential for a business lawyer in an actual business law environment, and to implement an investigative work in a business legal document of larger extent.

The course is carried out in the form of a project work that should intend to investigate the judicial premises for, and appropriate legal design of, the business connections of a specific concrete case, and is based on cooperation between Linköping University and concerned companies/organisations. During the project period, the student should have access to a supervisor at the university and a contact at the concerned company/organisation. The student should, in consultation with the concerned companies/organisations, establish a project description, which should be accepted by the supervisor at the university the project may begin.

Teaching and working methods

The working methods consist of participating in the work at the workplace with the task that the project should comprise according to the project description.

Examination

The course is examined through completion of the project work and establishment of the business legal document. After completing the project, the student should also write a report. Apart from an account of the workplace and the task, the report should contain a reflection on the role of the project and its importance for the own education, and on how the task has contributed to the student's learning and development of the knowledge, abilities and approach that have been stated as the aims of the course. The business legal document and the report are delivered to the supervisor at the university for assessment.

Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course twice are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination.

Students who have passed an examination may not retake it in order to improve their grades.
