Intended learning outcomes

On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- account for and critically review the scientific theoretical and methodological problems linked to the history of the Christian church from the 19th century until the present
- account for and critically review the main features of the history of the Christian church from the 19th century until the present
- independently analyse, orally and in written form present and discuss chosen specialities in the history of the Christian church from the 19th century until the present.

Course content

The course consists of independent studies. In addition, support is in the form of supervision and completing examination talks. Since the student chooses the reading list, which, however, should be approved by the coordinator, the emphasis of the course contents may differ. The contents are based on a reading list of high scholarly quality, such as theses and comment literature, as well as source materials. The reading list should be presented both in writing and orally.

Teaching and working methods

The teaching takes the form of supervision and examination talks. The student mainly works with literature studies and writing independently.

Examination

The course is examined through written assignments and oral examination. Detailed information can be found in the study guide.

Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course twice are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination.

Students who have passed an examination may not retake it in order to improve their grades.

Grades

Three-grade scale, U, G, VG

Other information
