Rising economic inequality and population aging define the world we live in at the start of the twenty-first century. They receive considerable policy attention and are core concerns in the United Nations' 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. This course will examine the interconnections between them. We become familiar with classical and contemporary approaches on diversity and inequality and consider the interplay between ageing, inequality and social change. Evidence from Swedish, European and Global analyses will be central when exploring diversity and inequality in times of accelerated social and demographic change. Students can contribute with own research questions and discuss analytical designs.
