World Literature and Global Storytelling, 7.5 credits

The course explores the concept World Literature from a historical and theoretical perspective. Focusing on literary expressions from the global south the course thematizes perceptions of centre and periphery, marginality, the postcolonial and the decolonial and analyses them in relation to power, gender and environment. The impact of oral storytelling on written texts and the role of translation for the distribution of fiction is discussed.
