Philosophy of medicine is the study of philosophical problems raised by medical practice. The course focuses on a number of such questions that can be specified in the following two modules: Module 1 focuses on Beauchamp & Childress’ book Principles of Biomedical Ethics and its four principles: beneficence, non-maleficence, autonomy, and justice. Module 2 focuses on different ways to approach the philosophy of medicine. For example, phenomenological bioethics and empirical philosophy/empirical ethics in medical ethics.
