Memory, Power, and Resistance is a course about how questions and issues regarding the past matter in the present. The course has a global perspective and takes an interdisciplinary approach. It deals with various social science and cultural studies concepts, theories and perspectives on how memory and forgetting, power and resistance are expressed and discussed. The course contains both theoretical studies and a minor research assignment based on ethnographic fieldwork.
Lessons will be in English with the possibility of some instruction in Swedish. The literature is in English but some optional reading may be in Swedish. Written assignments may be completed in Swedish or English.
