During this course, the student will acquire an overview of several different aspects of the virology field and understand the importance of viruses for human medicine and health as well as the use of viruses in biotechnology and cell biology. Furthermore, the student will gain a deeper understanding of virus function on a molecular level and how this has implications for human health. The course comprises of lectures by senior scientists that are experts in their respective fields, and will highlight recent resent research advances. The course also includes a bioinformatic exercise related to virus evolution and disease transmission.
