Welcome to an academic celebration concert with Östgöta Kammarkör.
In dreams, we always think freely and anew. The concert reflects dreams in many forms – as fantasy, expressions of stress and anxiety, contemplation, but also as a driving force for change and progress.
The concert is part of Linköping University’s doctoral conferment ceremony, which takes place the following day. At this event, the university’s new doctors receive their doctoral hats or laurel wreaths in a solemn ceremony.
About the programme
The evening offers an evocative mix of poetry set to music, where melodies bring the dreams to life. The programme embraces several centuries – from classical masters such as Joseph Haydn and Fanny Hensel, through Nordic Romanticism by Wilhelm Stenhammar and Adolf Fredrik Lindblad, to contemporary choral music by composers including Morten Lauridsen and Örjan Fahlström.
The texts feature literary giants such as William Shakespeare and William Blake, interwoven with Swedish poetry.
