We will process personal data about you, such as contact details, see more information below. The purpose of the processing is to maintain contact between Linköping University and former students. This may include information about what is happening at the university, invitations to alumni events, continuing education or other activities organised by LiU and our student organisations. LiU may also use the data to inform about relevant education programmes as part of the university’s mission to work with lifelong learning.
We collect some of your data from LADOK, a national system used by universities and colleges in Sweden to manage students’ study results and educational information. These data comprise your registered address, study records, telephone number and e-mail address. Your personal identity number, name, e-mail address and LiU ID are collected from LiU’s internal database.
In addition to data from LADOK, we also process data that you provide to us. You can choose whether to provide an alternative phone number/email address, contact preferences, workplace and LinkedIn profile.
The legal basis for processing your personal data is public interest. This is because one of LiU’s tasks is to collaborate with wider society for mutual exchange and work to ensure that the knowledge and skills available at the university benefit society. LiU may also use the data to inform about relevant education programmes as part of the university’s mission to work with lifelong learning.
Your personal data will be stored until further notice. If you choose to leave the alumni database, all data we have saved about you will be deleted. The information provided will be available to those who administer and work with alumni activities at LiU. The personal data we process about you may also be shared with LUST-approved student organisations at LiU. LUST is the collaborative body of LiU student unions. To be LUST-approved means that the organisation is affiliated with Linköping University.
LiU’s e-mail tool is used to enable communication and mailings.
We may have to share your personal data with a third party, for example when legally required to do so.
Linköping University is the controller of your personal data. Under the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation, you have the right to access the information that LiU holds on you free of charge and, if necessary, to have any errors corrected.
