As a founding member of the European Consortium of Innovative Universities (ECIU), LiU is committed to shaping Europe’s future through collaboration and innovation.

In August 2025, Linköping University opened an EU Office in Brussels to increase its presence and influence within European research and innovation.

The Linköping University EU Office connects the university with European institutions, networks, and partners — amplifying LiU’s voice in EU research, fostering transnational cooperation, and supporting societal transformation.

The EU office is led by Lisa Pohl and is located in Nordic House in Brussels.

We have an important role as a driving force for innovation and sustainable development in Europe. At a time of increasing geopolitical tensions, we also want to take a more active part in European cooperation.

In 2025, Linköping University celebrated 50 years as a university. As part of the celebration the conference ”Fri forskning för framtiden” was held in November. At the conference, some of the most prominent researchers at LiU presented cutting-edge discoveries in their fields.

This included everything from artificial intelligence and life sciences to new materials and challenges facing a changing society. Also, expert speakers and panel members talked about the future of research in Sweden, Europe and worldwide. Lisa Pohl, head of the Linköping University Office in Brussels, held the keynote speach.
