Description
A pasture reader is used to measure grass height on pasture. By using and recording the pasture, grass growth can be monitored and animals can be guided to optimal pastures. This provides more effective control of the grazing period and pasture management. Grass height is measured with a scale on the side of the meter. Regular use improves the possibility of having grazing strategies adapted to the animals' needs such as growth and milk production. Grazing meters can also be used as a basis for calculating feed rations. There are different models of grazing scanners. Some can store data in the tool itself and then upload it to a computer via USB or the reader is connected to an app where data collection and reading takes place. The tool costs about SEK 15,000. In some countries there are requirements for reporting pasture growth where this tool can be a solution.
