Job: Consultant at Axis Communications AB
Programme: Masters Statistics and Machine Learning, graduated 2023
After graduation and a typical workday
I’m currently a consultant at Axis Communications AB, where my role involves designing tests for PCB assembly in camera products. The day typically starts with 'fika' with my colleagues, followed by weekly project meetings with different teams. When there are no meetings, I usually focus on designing and verifying my test rigs or supporting test troubleshooting on the factory production line.
Why LiU?
I chose LiU because it offered a program that I was interested in and that accepted international students from various backgrounds. The duration of the education was reasonable, and the syllabus provided a series of interesting topics that caught my attention. The teaching method was a mix of lectures, seminars, and labs, which I appreciated as it significantly improved my hands-on and communication skills. Furthermore, I found some courses challenging yet enjoyable, thanks to the inspirational professors. The relaxed and open communication atmosphere with lecturers and professors gave students the opportunity to connect with academia.
During the program, I appreciated that LiU organized several exhibitions and numerous company lunch meetings, through which students could establish connections with companies from related industries, leading to opportunities for internships, master theses, and formal engineering jobs.
Apart from study time, various student activities also intrigued me, and I enjoyed them greatly, such as the Halloween party, Easter egg hunt, and Lucia celebration. One event you shouldn't miss is the Kalas in September, where you might get the chance to see the vice-chancellor leading the dance at the evening party! Two things I’ll take with me are 'fika' and the concept of 'lagom.'
