Monitoring the stable environment with digital tools provides an overview and control of the herd's climate and functions. With monitoring, you can check that everything is working as intended and detect deviations at an early stage.

Description

Several actors offer monitoring with different modules for different functions and some are integrated with, for example, ventilation or feeding systems. The systems are under development and new functions are continuously added. The great advantage of the monitoring systems is to be able to control several parameters in the same tool.

An example of a parameter that can be monitored is ventilation. Suppliers offer an adaptive ventilation system that is integrated with the barn control unit that continuously monitors the indoor climate. When additional ventilation is required (e.g. due to increased animal activity or changing weather conditions), the system adapts: instead of turning the fans to 100% one by one, the fan speed is gradually adjusted. More fans are activated in parallel, but each fan operates at a lower power level. As a positive side effect, the gradual adjustment minimises sudden energy spikes and significantly reduces noise levels.

The ventilation computer or app can tell you what the ventilation is doing to achieve the optimal climate. The ventilation is adaptive in the sense that it learns what climate it has achieved under different operating conditions. Therefore, the product can optimise the climate continuously.
