What do you do at work? What does a typical working day or working week look like?

Most of my time involves designing function blocks according to certain product specifications. I then simulate and debug the design and do top-level verification.

What was your path into working life like?

I had a bit of luck and was recruited very quickly due to the industry having a shortage of design engineers when I graduated.

Why did you choose Sweden and Linköping University?

There were multiple reasons why I chose to study at LiU. The main reasons were that I wanted to experience a different culture and climate. Another reason was due to the tuition fees, which I thought were reasonable for this programme. I had also heard that LiU is a very foreigner-friendly university, and that interested me.

What do you think about your education and your time in Linköping?

I think that the education was very useful and opened the door to working as an analog designer for me. I gained very fundamental knowledge that helps me in my daily working life, and I learned how to identify and fix problems that can arise. That is something that I think is important, to get that experience in class and put it into practice at work. Finally, during the different lab sessions, I learned the importance of being a team player and how to use that to my advantage.

What was your student life like?

It took some time for me to immerse myself in and get involved with the local culture and the study pace, but soon enough I started making new friends, including some Swedes, and I also started to discover Sweden as a country. Most of my spare time was spent travelling, painting and cooking, but I also went to some parties and other social activities. As I was an International Student Ambassador, this provided me with many opportunities to be actively involved in university activities as well.

My best memory of student life is probably “fika”!

Any advice for future students?

My tip would be to open your heart and embrace the world!
