What do you do at work? Please tell us what a typical working day or working week looks like at your job.

There is morning fika every weekday at Axis and every Friday afternoon we have fredagskaka. Before morning fika, I usually look at test results and report bugs if needed. After morning fika there can be meetings or some tasks that I can choose to do, for example maintaining test code. Lunch break lasts for at least thirty minutes. Working hours are 8 hours, from 9:30 to 15:00 is our core time that everyone is expected to be available for meeting (except for lunch break). Other than core time, employees can decide when they would like to work flexibly.

What was your path into working life like?

As a junior employee only works for one year without former experience, there is a long way to go for me to learn and to experience different things. At Axis Communications people are always supportive and openminded, who are willing to listen to others and to share experiences with others, so I feel happy and lucky to work here. Also as an international student, I greatly appreciate Swedish working culture.

Why did you choose to study in Sweden and especially at Linköping University?

Firstly, Sweden is a country with advanced technology and education, which is famous among the world. And Swedish people are much more than okay when it comes to English. Secondly, LiU is located in Linköping, which is a cozy city with good surroundings, neither too busy nor too small. Last but not least, LiU is the first university that established computer science program, and the university hosting super computers lab. So when I applied for master program, I chose Linköping University computer science program for my future.

What do you think about your education and your time in Linköping, Sweden?

For me, studying at LiU is like to explore endless possibilities without having to step out of comfort zone. During my study at LiU, I have learned practical techniques, and have met great people. And since I have studied in Sweden, it was easier for me not only to find a master thesis at the company that I am working now but also to get used to life here. Work life balance, fika, and Swedish… Everything happens more smoothly as I have studied at LiU.

What was your student life like?

The student live was great fun with different possibilities. I was a member of EAA, East Asia Association, where people who are interested in Asian culture and Swedish culture can exchange ideas with each other. And I was an international student ambassador which I was be able to create content about studying and living in Sweden, about studying at LiU, and anything else appropriate that comes to my mind, and to share those information with other students. Also this position gave me more opportunities to network with other international students and teachers too.

Best memory from your time at LiU?

During my study at LiU, I was impressed by doing super fun computer lab work, which felt like to challenge myself and to get hands-on experience quickly. And the visiting to the super computer lab was amazing. And all student-parties and hangouts were fantastic too.

What advice do you have for future international students at LiU and potential students who are considering studying the programme you studied?

Working hard on courses. Making full use of free time to explore endless possibilities. Having fun at LiU!
