This course introduces, analyses, and evaluates a core policy instrument: taxation. The question of how the system of taxation should be designed is both a classical area of policymaking and sets the parameters for policies in other areas. This course presents foundational theories of justice and the philosophy of economics as a tool for evaluating tax policy, but the focus will be on normative theories of taxation.
