WELCOME TO OUR COURSE IN PUBLIC SPEAKING!

This is a hands-on course aiming to improve the students’ public speaking skills in different rhetorical situations. The course consists of both practical and theoretical elements. As a student you are offered lectures and workshops on rhetoric and presentation skills. You will get pointers on how to prepare and deliver different kinds of speeches and get valuable advice on how to convey your message successfully. The main focus of the course is practicing speaking in front of an audience during seminars. It also focuses on analysis and criticism of recorded speeches or presentations as well as other students’ contributions from a rhetorical point of view.

One of the most important parts of the speech process is the feedback. We believe that students gain a deeper understanding of rhetoric and public speaking by participating in activities in which they can learn from their peers. Therefore, the course also treats the basic strategies concerning peer response.

The course assignments are an informative speech, a pitch presentation, an inspirational speech, a speech analysis, a team debate, and a written course reflection.
