The course deals with historical, theoretical, and empirical knowledge about integration in the contemporary welfare state. We highlight different perspectives on integration and discuss how the concept can be understood in light of ideas about migration, segregation and citizenship, and in a system of multi-level governance. During the course, we also delve deeper into the question of how integration relates to social, economic, and ecological sustainability, in education, working life, and family formation.
