The course draws upon current international research on urban environments, covering areas such as postcolonial studies, political geography, policy studies, and system studies. We analyse urban infrastructure for transportation, energy, waste, and water, as well as the planning and development of the built environment.

From the city to the home

The course concentrates on sustainability within and between different geographical levels in urban areas: city, neighbourhood, and home. Through the study of concrete international case studies, we discuss various policy and management strategies for addressing the challenges facing urban areas. We also explore power dynamics within the planning and development of cities and towns, as well as issues related to the connections and disconnections of different neighbourhoods.
