Research collaboration in Mathematics with low income countries and regions
The Department of Mathematics contributes to the development of capacity for higher education and research in low income countries and regions through collaborative projects in Africa and Asia.
Collaboration with International Science Programme (ISP)
The Department of Mathematics has cooperated with ISP for the last ten years. Our efforts to strengthen scientific knowledge, research capacity and postgraduate education in Africa and Southeast Asia are strengthened trough this collaboration.

The First Rwandan Woman with a PhD in Mathematics
Lydie Mpinganzima was one of the first PhD students accepted within the Sida-funded collaboration between Linköping University and the University of Rwanda. Her PhD degree led to a postdoc position and today she does research and teaches in Rwanda.

Successful thesis defence by Abubakar Mwasa
Mwasa has been a sandwich PhD student in the Sweden-Uganda bilateral programme. He will return to his home university, Busitema University in Uganda, to strengthen the research capacity in mathematics.

Ngailo the first to defend thesis via Zoom at MAI
On the 8th of June Edward Kanuti Ngailo defended his thesis, the first PhD defense via Zoom ever at the Department of Mathematics at Linköping University. “It was actually very nice” says, now doctor, Ngailo.
