‘Tuned-up’ fatty acids - cure for cardiac arrhythmia?
LiU researchers show how fatty acid variants can open an ion channel that is very important for the heart, thereby reducing the risk of arrhythmia.In the future, it should be possible to develop fatty acids into medicine to treat cardiac arrhythmia.

SEK 64 million to research in medicine and health
Fourteen researchers at LiU have received grants totalling more than SEK 64 million. This is the result when the Swedish Research Council has awarded nearly SEK 1.1 billion in research grants for the medical and health sciences.

Estrogen possible risk factor in disturbed heart rhythm
The sex hormone estrogen has a negative impact on heartbeat regulation, according to an experimental study from LiU. Estrogen impact seems to interact with hereditary changes causing a heart disease disturbing the heart’s rhythm.
