Exchange ideas with AI research group at LiU, about Natural Language Processing (NLP)

Natural Language Processing (NLP) is a sub-field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) that studies how computers process human language. The NLP research group at Linköping University invites to connect over ideas and coffee (or tea).

”With Natural Language Processing (NLP) being increasingly applied across various disciplines, we want to offer a relaxed space for anyone interested in exploring or discussing NLP. Whether you’re simply curious, considering using NLP in your own research or work, or already implementing it and want to share your experiences, we welcome your insights.

This is an open and informal exchange – no strings attached. Anyone is welcome to come by, regardless of your background or prior familiarity with NLP.

We typically meet on Tuesdays, beginning with lunch at noon, followed by coffee around 12.45, and then our weekly group meeting at 13.15. You’re welcome to join us for the entire afternoon and present your own research, or simply drop by for a coffee and conversation. Just send us an email (hello@nlp.coffee), and we’d be happy to have you.

Looking forward to exchanging ideas with you!

Best,
The NLP research group

About the NLP research group

The NLP research group develops and analyses computational models of human language. Their work ranges from basic research on algorithms and machine learning to applied research in language technology and computational social science.

Their current focus is on analysing and enhancing neural language models. Specifically, the group is working on methods for improving model efficiency, trustworthiness, and usefulness for lesser-resourced languages. They also have a long-standing interest in work on the intersection of natural language processing and theoretical computer science.

Their teaching portfolio comprises courses and degree projects in natural language processing and text mining at the basic, advanced, and doctoral levels.

Professor Marco Kuhlmann is leading the NLP research group. The group is a unit at the division Artificial Intelligence and Integrated Computer Systems (AIICS), at the Department of Computer and Information Science (IDA).

The NLP research group are participating in several national and international research collaborations, including:
