Description
This product allows milk samples to be taken and mastitis bacteria to be cultured directly on the farm. The farm is provided with a heating cabinet, culture plates, milk tubes and any other equipment that may be needed. The employee then takes the milk sample himself, coats it on the plate and places it in the heating cabinet. The plate is photographed with a mobile phone camera after a set time interval. This is then interpreted by Bacticam's AI and within 24 hours you have a preliminary answer. Agricam has a partnership with the National Veterinary Institute (SVA) and the method is approved by the Swedish Board of Agriculture. The method can therefore be useful in clinical mastitis if you have conditional use of medicines (ViLA) on the farm because you can then start relevant treatment after the test result. In addition to the culture of bacteria causing clinical mastitis, the method is useful for monitoring at farrowing, cell counting or after calving. Bacticam provides a clear overview of the presence of bacteria at both herd and individual level, which simplifies preventive animal health work on the farm.Disadvantages are that if you do not have ViLA on the farm after treatment may not be initiated directly without first calling a veterinarian. Furthermore, the culture plates can have a short shelf life and sometimes some are lost.
