Who is it for?
The Alumni network
LiU Alumni is a network that is open to all who have studied and achieved at least 1 credit at Linköping University, and to doctoral students. Membership of the Linköping University alumni network is free of charge. The objective of the alumni activities at LiU is to establish and maintain a relationship with the alumni.
Event
When you register for an event, you consent to Linköping University processing the personal data that you supply during the registration. Linköping University will process your personal data for the purposes of being able to send relevant information to you before the event, and to follow up and evaluate the event.
Processing of personal data
In order to be able to carry out alumni-centred activities we must store and process personal data.
When you apply for membership of the network, we need your name and personal registration number (or, where relevant, temporary registration number) in order to be able to check the Ladok student registry and determine whether you are eligible for membership. If you have at least 180 credits or awarded a degree, information about you (including your address, telephone number and student email address) and about your studies at LiU will be obtained from Ladok. We update address information at regular intervals using SPAR (Statens personadressregister), in order to ensure that we have correct and up-to-date information.
We must also have your current email address: your membership in the network is based on this, and we use it to send information to you, according to the preferences you have set.
You may also choose to provide up-to-date information about your telephone number and address, and the name of your employer, which we will then store together with the information described above.
It is also possible to become a member of the LiU Alumni network via LinkedIn. In this case, your contact details and employment history will be obtained from your LinkedIn profile, and automatically displayed on your alumni profile page. You can edit the information on your alumni profile page at any time.
As member of the LiU Alumni network, you give your approval to the following:
- Linköping University will collect and store personal data that you provide.
- Linköping University may distribute information to the email address and postal address you have specified, and may contact you by telephone. Such contact will be in accordance with the preferences you specify.
- Personnel from the alumni office at Linköping University may record information concerning the contact between you and the university, for the purpose of providing you with relevant information.
- Linköping University may use the information you provide for calculating statistics.
There is no time limit to the storage of your personal data. You have the right to withdraw your approval at any time and request that we cease processing your personal data. Contact in this case alumni@liu.se.
When you have requested that we cease processing your personal data, you have the right to have your personal data erased.
You have the right to receive a copy of your personal data that the university holds at any time.
You have the right to have your personal data rectified if you consider them to be erroneous.
Access to your personal data
Administrative personnel at the university have access to your personal registration number. Your other personal data (without the personal registration number) may be passed to other members of the LiU alumni network, in order to carry out alumni-centred activities. If so, this will be done in accordance with the preferences you set.
We will never sell membership information to any third party.
Processing personal information
We apply all currently valid legislation to ensure privacy when processing personal data. The legal basis for our processing of your personal data is that you have given consent. The controller of personal data is Linköpings universitet (202100-3096). You have the right to contact us if you wish to receive information about the data we possess about you, or otherwise exercise your rights as specified by the Data Protection Regulation, in order to request rectification, transfer, or to request that we limit the processing, to raise objections, or to request erasure of your personal data. The easiest way of doing so is to contact us at registrator@liu.se or by telephone: +46 13 281000. The data protection officer can be reached at dataskyddsombud@liu.se or through the registrar. If you have any complaints about our treatment of your personal data, you have the right to contact the supervisory authority, which is the Swedish Data Protection Authority.
