We analyze how political decisions influence society's transformation toward a more sustainable future. The course is grounded in international agreements such as the Paris Agreement and explores the potential and roles of different social actors.

Learn about the politics of climate and environmental issues

In this course, we explore the meanings of sustainability and how they affect our lives and society. We will discuss the necessary societal transformation and the strategies proposed to achieve a more sustainable future. We analyze how political decisions influence environmental and resource management, and investigate how various governing modes shape environmental and sustainability policies.

Furthermore, the course enables you to explore the functions, interactions, and priorities of political stakeholders and how different constellations can drive political change. The course explores and emphasizes the importance of justice, equality, and inclusion in the pursuit of creating a sustainable world.

This course is offered as a part of two of our master's programs in sustainability and urban planning but is also open to other eligible individuals.
