Child Minder and Preschool Teacher Education Programs

This project is a comparative study of education programs that train students to be child minders and preschool teachers, respectively; that is, the career groups working within childcare/preschool. By studying how these two education programs have been discussed and carried out in a specific place – Norrköping – this project aims to develop knowledge about how the programs, together and individually, contribute to constructions of notions about activities for younger children based on norms regarding education, care, gender, class and ethnicity.
The project is funded by the Swedish Research Council.
