Helen Dannetun

Vice-Chancellor, Professor

My role is to lead Linköping University by creating the best conditions for excellence in education and research. Interaction between people is vital to quality, and it is also my duty to ensure that we offer attractive and stimulating environments.

Innovation in education and research

Linköping University, founded in 1975, has a tradition of working with innovation in education and teaching. Linköping University has been a pioneer with regard to educational programmes, teaching methods, interdisciplinary work and research schools. With scientific and societal relevance, we address the challenges of our time.

At Linköping University you will find high-quality educational programmes focussed on sustainable knowledge and skills for the labour market of the future. You will find strong and collaborative research environments. Through engagement with society, we continually build the quality of our research and education.

As vice-chancellor of Linköping University I have the overall responsibility for the entire operations of the university, and I answer to the University Board. The fact that the university is a public authority has special implications for my role. On one hand some parts of my work is highly regulated, but on the other hand there are large built-in freedoms in terms of organisation and choice of education and research. Consequently my duties include issuing directives, fulfilling my duty of care, ensuring that we meet the goals set by the University Board, and taking initiatives aimed at innovation and change.
