Educational Support

Technology that engages, knowledge that grows.

Access to technology and expertise for university and upper secondary education

ADDLAB is a key resource for education at Linköping University and contributes to providing students with hands-on experience in additive manufacturing and 3D printing.

At the core of the educational activities is the course TMKO05 – Additive Manufacturing for Industrial Applications, where students work practically with design, material selection and the manufacturing of components. The course is closely linked to ongoing research and is delivered in ADDLAB’s facilities, with full access to the centre’s equipment and expertise.

In addition to this dedicated course, ADDLAB is extensively used in several other programmes in mechanical engineering, design and sustainable production. Each year, a large number of prints, laboratory exercises and projects are carried out, allowing students to explore how the technology can be applied in various contexts – from concept development to functional prototypes.

The centre provides support to course leaders and teaching staff, including:

  • technical advice in the planning of course activities involving 3D printing,
  • access to equipment for teaching, degree projects and research projects,
  • guest lectures and technology introductions, and
  • supervision of students in design and manufacturing for additive production.

ADDLAB also welcomes collaboration with upper secondary schools seeking to integrate 3D technologies into their teaching. Through workshops, demonstrations and project support, the centre aims to stimulate interest in technology and build knowledge in preparation for future engineering studies.

The goal is to make additive manufacturing a natural part of the educational pathway – from upper secondary school to doctoral education – and to create a learning environment where theory, technology and creativity come together in practice.
