This visit was planned and realized according to the implementation plan to achieve different short-term objectives. This visit gathered representatives from all partner organizations: Poznan University of Life Sciences (Prof. Jacek Dach, Assoc. Prof. Iryna Vaskina, PhD students Mateusz Nowak and Wiktor Bojarski); Polish Biomethane Organization (Michal Tarka and Bartosz Moszowski); Bioenergy Association of Ukraine (Anna Pastukh) and Sumy State University (Assoc. Prof. Roman Vaskin). From the side of Linköping University Iryna Ablieieva, Karin Tonderski, Konrad Smolarczyk and Alex Prast were involved in the organization of all activities and program during all three days.
First day on June 11, we were fully engaged for a whole day and inspired by a successful and exiting experience by study visits to St1 Biokraft biogas plant in Mönsterås (guided by Jörgen Ejlertsson) and biogas plant at HAGELSRUMS GÅRD AB (guided by Gunnar Bergström). At the first biogas plant the main substrates are cow manure, chicken manure and slaughterhouse waste. At the second plant cow manure is the main feedstock for anaerobic digestion. Both plants upgrade biogas to biomethane (bio-LNG) via amine scrubbing and membrane separation, consequently. All partners got a lot of inspiration and motivation as well as specific characteristics of biogas production and how to improve it. Sharing knowledge and practical aspects of biogas production is a very important step to collaboration and biogas solutions boosting.
Next two days on June 12-13, our partners participated in Summer Conference organized by Biogas Solutions Research Center. Poster of BioPart project - Descriptive Comparative Study on the topic "Uneven Grounds, Diverging Paths: Biogas Systems in Sweden, Poland & Ukraine" led by Konrad Smolarczyk was prepared based on results of previous project workshops and presented during the poster session. Biogas Solutions Research Center organized a rich and exciting program with speeches by experts and scientists on topics "Biomethane in the European transport sector- now and in the future", "International dissemination of the Nordic biogas model – how can it be done?", "Growing demand from industrial users, but how can the supply of biomethane be realized?" and "Meeting the targets for organic waste collection for biogas production". We got a huge inspiration and motivation for biogas solutions boosting. Many thanks to Anna Eronn for the organisation of our participation in the conference.
During these days we also had a project meeting and visit to laboratory at the Department of Thematic Studies – Environmental Changes of Linköping University. Study visits to biogas laboratory of the Department of Thematic Studies – Environmental Changes and Biokraft laboratory were guided by Jörgen Ejlertsson. We got a huge experience in the modern approaches to biogas research and chemical analysis of biogas and digestate to manage the efficiency of anaerobic digestion.
It was a really inspired time with unique opportunity for knowledge and experience sharing. We defined our future plans for last workshop on digestate, and study visit to Poland this autumn. Besides this, we have ambitious for preparation of 2 papers based on project results.
Follow the project updates and announcement for next activities!
