A vast amount of materials are used as dressings in the treatment of wounds. The specific properties of these materials, along with their impact on wound healing, has to a large extent not been studied. The current project focus on the generation and testing of new dressing materials based on nanofiber hydrogels. The novel dressings are initially evaluated in respect to mechanical parameters and safety using in vitro methodology. By identifying the most suitable materials, the project will continue to further develop other aspects of the dressings (antimicrobial properties, biocompatibility, etc), potentially generating clinically relevant wound care strategies.
The project is a collaboration with Luleå University of Technology.
