Most pupils look forward to going back to school and seeing their classmates again. But not all of them do. According to Prof Thornberg, six to eight per cent of Swedish pupils are subject to some form of bullying in elementary school.

Bullying is less prevalent in classrooms where pupils perceive that their classmates believe that bullying is wrong without exception and that those who bully cannot blame someone else. These are findings from a study from Linköping University.

Professor Robert Thornberg is included on Expertscape’s list of experts on bullying.

Seven research projects at LiU have been awarded grants in the Swedish Research Council’s annual funding round for educational sciences. The projects range from heroes wearing tights in the classroom to background noise and bullying.

Every day, children at schools all across Sweden are bullied. We need more expertise in order to prevent bullying. This is a research area that Robert Thornberg, professor of educational research at Linköping University, is passionate about.
