Are you interested in how consumers perceive and evaluate service innovations? Are you interested in consumer behavior in retail and other service industries, and how innovation influences this behavior? Do you wish to take a first step on a path towards a career in Academia?

We are recruiting a doctoral student to join the marketing group at the department of Business Administration (FEK) at Linköping University and contribute to the InnovEx research project focused on the interrelationships between service innovativeness, service quality and customer experience.

Your work assignments

Your role in the project involves participating in data collection and analysis. You will also contribute to academic publications through literature reviews and in article writing. Eventually, we expect you to develop your own research agenda based on your interests, the data and personnel resources available in the project. The specific responsibilities will be tailored based on your competences and interests.

As a PhD student, you devote most of your time to doctoral studies and the research projects of which you are part. Your work may also include teaching or other departmental duties, up to a maximum of 20% of full-time. You are expected to contribute to undergraduate course teaching.

Your qualifications

You have graduated at Master’s level degree in business administration or equivalent field, with a specialization in marketing or consumer behavior. Majors in other specializations may be considered if they have minor studies in marketing or otherwise show knowledge of concurrent marketing. Alternatively, you should have completed courses with a minimum of 240 ECTS credits, at least 60 of which must be in advanced courses in marketing, consumer behavior, or other related field.

An ideal candidate for this position would be eager to learn, show high degree of independence in carrying out research tasks, and capacity to take responsibility for their own research. We expect you to have an interest in academic research and learning more about marketing theories and research methods.

The project is mainly based on quantitative data, and thus at least a foundational knowledge of quantitative research methods and statistics, as well as willingness to learn more are required. Any prior experience with conducting surveys or experiment-based research is a merit.

You shall be able to communicate effectively in English in both written and oral form. Ability to teach in Swedish is appreciated but is not required for the project work.

Your workplace

The position is placed at the Marketing group of the department of Business administration (FEK) at Linköping University. The department carries out research in business and management fields and provides undergraduate studies as well as doctoral studies in business economics.

Joining the project and FEK offers you an opportunity to learn state-of-the-art service innovation and marketing, and enhance your skills in quantitative market research methods. The marketing group has high-profile marketing scholars that are able to provide you high-quality and encouraging supervision and support for your own research. Through our international connections we can help you to build an academic career in marketing research.
