PhD student

I am interested in issues related to efforts aimed at supporting the unemployed. I am interested in collaboration around and the organization of labor market policy initiatives, as well as policy, power, and governance in relation to such efforts.

Background

I have a Master's degree in Social and Cultural Analysis. Previously, I have worked at the Swedish Public Employment Service (Arbetsförmedlingen) in various roles, primarily providing special support to individuals with some form of disability that leads to reduced work capacity, and in collaboration with various stakeholders such as the Swedish Social Insurance Agency (Försäkringskassan), social services, and healthcare.

Research

Since September 2021, I have been a PhD candidate at the Department of Social Work. In my dissertation work, I am interested in labor market policy interventions in the welfare society of Sweden in the early 2020s, as well as the use of sports/football in such interventions. Social work aimed at, primarily, the livelihoods of young individuals is now carried out in a context involving a wide range of societal actors. I have been following a specific labor market policy initiative carried out by the Swedish Football Association. I am interested in how the intervention takes shape based on policy, power, and governance, and in relation to other actors. I focus on how problems are constructed, how relationships between different actors shape the intervention, and the conditions under which participants, young people, are included in the initiative.
