Gerd Jakobsson, PhD, is an analytical chemist at the Department of Forensic Genetics and Forensic Toxicology within the National Board of Forensic Medicine in Sweden and is affiliated with the Department of Biomedical and Clinical Sciences at Linköping University. Her research focuses on forensic toxicology and analytical chemistry, including alcohol pharmacokinetics, analysis of drugs and alcohol markers in hair with forensic application, and biomarker-based approaches to opioid-related fatal intoxications. Her work also encompasses the development and validation of analytical methods using liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) and high-resolution mass spectrometry (LC-QTOF-MS). She received her PhD in 2022 for her thesis, “Oxycodone in Forensic Toxicology – Analytical Strategies and Interpretation.” She is a member of NAFT, SOFT, SOHT, and TIAFT, and received the Randall Baselt Award in 2022.
