My research focuses on how risk factors during adolescence affect cardiovascular health in middle age.

Risk factors for cardiovascular health

I am a medical student at Linköping University. My research investigates how early risk factors, such as blood pressure and intelligence level affect cardiovascular health in middle age. To assess cardiovascular health, I analyze both the extent of atherosclerosis and Life´s Essential 8, a scoring system that evaluates the cardiovascular health.

High blood pressure in adolescence a silent risk

A blood pressure as low as 120/80 mm Hg in adolescence is linked to a higher risk of atherosclerosis in middle age. These findings indicate that high blood pressure early in life plays an important role in the development of coronary artery disease.
