Associate Professor

What happens when people experience urinary incontinence or difficulty emptying the bladder? How do the issues influence relationships with others, social interactions? My teaching assignment includes raising awareness about the subject.

Research on urinary problems and their impact on social life

The title of my 2009 doctoral thesis was Sleep and Quality of Life in Men with Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms and Their Partners.

My main finding was that urinary problems led to poorer health-related quality of life and sleep than among a control group with hernias. Their partners are also affected by the problems.

Ongoing studies in the field concern sexual relations and the impact of urinary incontinence on men in their social lives.

I am also involved in designing instruments and a questionnaire (LIQ) that target urinary incontinence.

Teaching in Nursing Science

Since March 2016, I have been in charge of the first-cycle Nursing programme. The degree programme is offered at both our Linköping and Norrköping campuses.

I am an examiner in first-cycle Nursing Science for semester 2 of the Nursing programme, as well as the second-cycle course in incontinence and care.

I supervise first and second-cycle papers.
